Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasised that today there should have been conducted the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the prominent Ukrainian state and public man, writer and painter Volodymyr Vynnychenko
M. Tomenko reminded that the portrait of V. Vynnychenko is placed in the gallery of the Leaders of Ukar8inian Governments. "Thus, there is no doubts that in the modern Ukraine it was Volodymyr Vynnychenko who was the first Head of the Ukrainian Government", the Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament stated.
Speaking on the contribution of V, Vynnychenko into the formation of the Ukrainian state, M. Tomenko is first of all convinced that it is necessary to remember him as a co-author of almost all four Universals of the Central Council that had been forming the Ukrainian state in 20th century
"Activity of V. Vynnychenko as a writer is the most known page of his biography, as there have been no more popular and discussed writer in Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century", Mykola Tomenko reminded and added that among his most popular works there are the novel Zapysky Kyrpatoho Mefistofelia (Notes of Snub-Nosed Mephistopheles), first in the Ukrainian literature utopia novel Soniachna Mashyna (Sun Machine), novels, stories for children etc.
M. Tomenko stated that everything the present power has done to commemorate the prominent man of Ukraine is opening of the exhibition dedicated to the creative activity of V. Vynnychenko in the building of the Government and paintings exhibition in Kirovohrad city, where the writer was born. "Though, the present authorities pay special attention to the events and activists of the Soviet and Russian history", he stated.
"Unfortunately, an issue on celebration of 130th anniversary of Volodymyr Vynnychenko is the characteristic feature of soviet mentality, instead of the Ukrainian one of the present authorities", Mykola Tomenko concluded.
